Well, the condo is really starting to take shape now. The new Hot Water Tank is in, and the electrician will be coming on Monday to move a couple of junction boxes, install some new lighting and upgrade all the outlets to Decora switches and plates. MirrorWorks will be by on Monday as well to measure the foyer and the second bedroom for mirrored closet doors; neither space has any closet doors at all. Granite counter tops arrive Tuesday, and plumber will be back on Thursday. We are two days behind schedule, but it should all be done this week. I took possession on July 4 and we started work on July 6. Pretty good, I’d say, with weekends off all round.
The new upper and lower 9″ deep custom cabinets I had ordered to provide extra storage along the previously blank wall have now been installed. Here’s the before and after. Remember, those cabinets on each side of the window are gone.
Alex got started on the tub surround, but we had underestimated the number of tiles, and we ran out. George at Cash and Carry Carpet was able to put in an order for me on Wed. night (he’s the best) and I have the extra tiles in my car right now for installation on Monday. Here’s the before and after:
I’ve spent almost every night at the condo painting the built-in pine shelving in the walk-in closet. It’s taken 3 coats of melamine to hide the pine but I want a modern, contemporary look, and knotty pine just doesn’t do it. Dan Maxwell of JDMax Painting is going to pick up the drawers and shelves this weekend and spray paint them for me with lacquer; way too fiddly for me to do them and he has some extra paint on hand. I should have them back on Wednesday.
Here’s the before and after:
Won’t be long now!
